It’s a mixture of recipes by Passard, and the comics by Blain showing the recipes being prepared. Passard is the other crucial element here, the book hinges on his personality and rapport with Blain and while he perpetuates a few of the stereotypical chef characteristics: J’aurais bien voulu voir en photo ces tableaux culinaires.

This is a perfect mix between a comic withh and a cook book. The recipes scattered throughout the book aren’t necessarily things I would make, but interesting to see nonetheless. I hope Blain does more non-fiction work like this. The recipes sound delicious but aren’t really something I am interested in trying at home for the most part, but I appreciate the new way I’ve discovered at looking at food in particular, vegetables and just a new way of seeing in general.
Lovingly drawn and presenting a very charming niche of the world, I was enamoured of Passard, his food, and Blain’s clear devotion to representing both.

I felt like he did what he could fhe a moderately expressive, fairly delicious-food making chef. It’s a different approach than what most Americans would find on the traditional cooking show, but an approach that is welcome and needed.
